Holiday Resource List

The holidays can be a rough time for those who are financially struggling. What should be a joyous time of year for families, is often a financial burden for some. They say it takes a village to raise a child. Luckily, for Denton residents, we have a pretty good village. 


If you or someone you know is worried about making ends meet this holiday season, Friends with Benefits is happy to help you find the help you need. We've all struggled at one time or another and we are so grateful to live in a community that cares about its own. Here's a list of some resources that can help alleviate the strain while providing safety, comfort, and happy memories for you and your family this holiday season.

  1. Our Daily Bread – 300 W. Oak St. Denton, TX 76209 inside of St. Andrews Presbyterian Church

    Our Daily bread provides warm meals, sanitary items, prescription help, job services, groceries, and other services to help those in need.

  2. First Refuge Ministries – 1701 Broadway St, Denton, TX 76201

    First Refuge Ministries offers both a food pantry and a choice pantry, as well as, a medical clinic, a dental clinic, and counseling.

  3. Denton County Toy Store – 117 W Hercules Ln, Denton, TX 76207 (inside of Asbury United Methodist Church)
    The Denton County Toy Store provides toys for families in need during the holidays. You must register with them to receive presents for your children. Registration dates are on 11/30 and 12/7 at 6 PM. You must provide an ID, Utility Bill, Pay Stub, and Proof of Child's Age (report card, birth certificate, etc.). Donations are for children 12 and under.

  4. Community Partners of Denton County – 535 South Loop 288, Denton TX 76205
    Community Partners of Denton County provide coats and gifts for children who come from abusive situations and currently reside in foster care. They also help process Toys for Tots applications.

  5. Salvation Army of Denton County – 1508 E McKinney St. Denton, TX 76209
    Part of the Toys for Tots program, the Salvation Army of Denton County also provides gifts from Angel Tree, clothes, shelter, and holiday meals.

  6. Interfaith Ministries of Denton – 1109 N Elm St # 1, Denton, TX 76201
    Interfaith Ministries offers temporary assistance for utility bills, prescriptions, eye exams, food, and diapers. During the holidays, other services may be available depending on funding.

  7. Denton County Friends of the Family – 1400 Crescent St #5 Denton, TX 76201
    Aside from offering counseling to victims of abuse, Friends of the Family also has an “Adopt a Family” program to help families in need provide toys and clothing for Denton County families who have been impacted by sexual and domestic violence.

  8. First Denton Elves Shelves – 1100 Malone St, Denton, TX 76201
    First Denton's Elves Shelves program provides two gifts per child, as well as, stocking stuffers and a knit hat. Registration requires an ID, a utility bill, and a birth certificate for each child.

  9. Cumberland Presbyterian Children's Home – 909 Greenlee Street, Denton, TX 76201
    The Christmas Wishes program allows people to adopt single parents for Christmas to help with Christmas gifts. Volunteers can also fulfill wishes from the Lobby Tree. Cumberland also offers housing assistance and counseling services.

  10. Denton County MHMR – 2519 Scripture Street, Denton, TX 76201
    Our local MHMR takes gifts and monetary donations to help provide clients with help during the holidays.

  11. Horizon Family Solutions – 516 N Ruddell St, Denton, TX 76209
    Every year, Horizon Family Solution throws a party for their patients (and their families) who are on the road to recovery from the grips of addiction. For the party, the provide gifts and food.

Friends With Benefits (FWB) is a 501(c)(3) in Denton, Texas that benefits North Texas charitable organizations that better our local communities, schools and/or neighborhoods. Our goal is to organize fun events in Denton, Texas to raise funds and awareness to north Texas charitable organizations and causes.
