programs that make a difference
At Friends With Benefits, our mission extends far beyond the events we produce. Through year-round programs and community initiatives, we've invested nearly $300,000 back into Denton by supporting local nonprofits, families, educators, artists, and individuals in need. From birthday celebrations for children in foster care and teacher wish lists to scholarships, food assistance, winter clothing drives, and support for the arts, every program is rooted in one simple goal: bringing our community together to make a lasting difference.

We have funded $30,000+ in birthday celebrations for foster youth.
Cumberland Family Services does so much for foster children in Denton County—the least we can do is make sure every child gets to celebrate their special day. For the past six years, FWB has funded birthday parties for Cumberland clients, creating smiles and lasting memories. -
We’ve collected 1,000+ pounds of winter clothing.
Winter can be dangerous for those without proper clothing. Each year, FWB partners with Little Guys Movers and local businesses to collect gently used coats, jackets, and cold-weather gear. Donations are distributed through Our Daily Bread to help keep our neighbors warm and safe. -
We have purchased 300+ teacher wish list items.
Teachers make an incredible impact, and we love supporting them. Each semester, FWB purchases items from area teachers’ wishlists — supplies that help students learn and create welcoming classrooms.
-
Texas summers are no joke. To help Denton Basic Services keep water coolers filled year-round for unhoused neighbors and others in need, FWB collects bottled water and donations each summer. Together, we’re helping save lives in the heat.
-
We have provided $12,000+ to fight food insecurity.
Every September, during Hunger Action Month, FWB hosts a food drive to support Tiny Pantries, school pantries, and other local food programs. We collect canned goods, nonperishables, and donations to help fill the gap for Denton families.
-
When crisis strikes, FWB steps in. We first launched this effort during the 2011 winter storm, providing water and supplies when power outages left families without heat or running water. Today, our Community Emergency Fund continues to fill the gaps when other assistance falls short—helping with diapers, food, and essentials.
We partner with groups like Denton Basic Needs, Tiny Pantries, and Our Daily Bread to make sure Denton families are cared for.
-
Every child deserves joy during the holidays. FWB partners with the Denton Toy Store to stock shelves with new toys so parents can “shop” for free and wrap gifts for their children.
-
We have invested $20,000+ in scholarships and education.
The Jean Arendt Scholarship honors a legacy of kindness, generosity, and community. Through this scholarship, Friends With Benefits invests in the next generation by helping remove financial barriers and supporting individuals as they pursue their education and future goals.
